Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Ahmad Ridwan Fauzi. I am from Surabaya, Indonesia, the student of
Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, famously called スラバヤ工科大学 in Japanese. I would like to express this amazing yet compelling
experience that has given me a lot of significant new insights. Starting from
August 17th, I arrived at Haneda Airport to commence this wonderful
journey.

The first impression when I arrived in
Japan is, I was astounded by its cleanliness, marvelous urban planning and its
fascinating scenery.

The first time I arrived at Hon-Atsugi
station, I was immediately greeted by Okuda-san the time I left the bus. I was
very amazed back then because Okuda-san still remembers me although we met a year
ago, that is my first trip to Japan. So after greeted, she showed me everything
that I need to know to live in this beautiful little city of Atsugi.
The most crucial agenda starts when I was
introduced by Okuda-san to Tanaka Hiroshi-sensei. Tanaka-sensei along with
Tatsuki Ebihara-san are the people in charge of my research here. Soon after we
have introduced each other, we share our personal information about ourselves
and also the plan of the research that will be undertaken while the program is
undergoing. The members of the lab, although honestly I can say some of them are
very bashful (I am sorry for telling the truth guys. :p), they are, especially
Tanaka-sensei, are very welcoming towards me. It is also probably hard for me
to talk with some of the members, as I don’t speak Japanese that well, but at
some point I am trying to have a little chat with them and they are very
willing to help even though there is this language barrier. We have this nice
wonderful little welcoming party the first time I entered this laboratory.

It is all in all a nice party. We shared a lot of interesting information and cultures regarding Japan. After being very well welcomed to this lab, I began my research immediately in order to finish it as soon as possible as I need to go back to my country to complete my undergraduate thesis too. During this research, I could not say any better word than “Thank you” as whenever I need some things, Tanaka-sensei will always immediately complete my research’s needs, and also whenever I need assistances, Ebi-san will always help me for 24 hours (thank you Ebi-san, you are amazing. Haha).
During my stay here, I go to several big cities around Japan, especially Tokyo. It is because Tokyo is 40 kilometers away from this city and can be easily reached using only Odakyu Line. I got a lot of amazing experiences and refreshment by visiting Tokyo.

Also I have visited Osaka by plane. I went
to Narita Airport first to catch the flight.

But during my trip to Osaka, I stayed at
Sasayama, a small city in Hyogo Prefecture because my friend is also staying in
Japan and chooses to have the internship in Sasayama. Sasayama is one of
UNESCO’s Creative City Network, and is very famous for its 黒枝豆. Also this city still has a lot of unique houses as some of the
houses are the heritage of Samurai period in Japan.

In this experience. I also met several
people in which they are in charge of my friend while he is doing his
internship here. They are from Kwansei Gakuin University, and they are the part
of the organization called AIESEC

It is a tremendous and blazing experience
that I have and I am very glad that I can meet a lot of new people while I am
here, as it is very important for me too to have a lot of connections in the
future. After taking several days in Sasayama, I went back to the apartment to
continue my research again.
Working for 3 months, I have finished the
programs that are required to complete the research and to do the experiment
afterwards. The members of the lab, and several members from the other labs,
have been taking a huge part in this experiment as the experiment is the main
role in this experiment (I also thank you guys, you have done a great job [お疲れ様でした] ;) ).

Finally, after the test has finished I
keep continuing to complete my research until finished. Eventually the day of
the presentation has arrived after working for straight 3 months. Below are
some photos from the presentation.

After finishing the presentation and
answering several questions, I received a certificate and handshake from
Matsumoto-sensei, the Dean of Information Technology in KAIT.

All in all, thankfully all parties that
are involved in my research and also the professors are very appreciative
towards my research. I also would like to express my gratitude to Inoue-sensei
for lending me his CAVE room to finish my research.

The day of the research has finally come
to an end. I am really happy and also very sad at the same time as I have to
leave Japan for good. I could not express any better word in describing how
tremendous, wonderful, amazing, and dazzling experience I have while I am here.
I am very grateful in every second I have while I keep working on this
research. I would also show my very best gratitude towards my friends here on
Tanaka Lab for being such an awesome partner, as they still accept me in spite
of this language barrier. Summarily, I wish we could meet again sometime in the
future as a successful person, and I hope that this partnership will not last
the day after I leave Japan. Thank you very much for being part of a wonderful
journey in my life. ;)
Hi, Ahmad, thank you for your interesting blog article. I have attended your research presentation and I recognized your fine accomplishment of your research program at our university. I, as a good friend of Prof. Hiroshi Tanaka, am glad to know your fulfilling stay at the laboratory and in Japan. I hope you to visit Japan and the KAIT again in the future. Good luck!
