チュラ研修生学外見学ツアー報告 第二弾 Report on off-campus tour for Chula students -- Second Edition --

7月12日は、学外見学ツアーの第二弾として、産業技術総合研究所（AIST）地質標本館と宇宙航空研究開発機構（JAXA）の見学に行きました。その報告として、写真をメインに。

On July 12th, as the second stage of the off-campus tour, we visited the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Geological Museum and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Tsukuba Space Center. With photos as a report.

貸切バスで行きます。乗り換えなどを考えるとはるかに楽だし、自分たちのペースで移動できるのでありがたいです。今日の出発は8:30。早い時間でしたが、全員無事、遅刻せずにやってきました。当然と言えば当然です。しかし、世の中、当然のことが当然でなくなってきているものもあります。

I went there on a charter bus. It's much comfortable by considering the transit, and it's nice to be able to move at our own pace. The departure was 8:30. It was early time, but all came safely without being late. It is natural to come on time. However, natural affairs do not necessarily become natural recently.

地質標本館には、ちょうど11時に着きました。日本が地震国家であることは、当然彼らも知っています。日本に来て初めて地震を経験した学生もいました。

We arrived at the Geological Museum at exactly 11 o'clock. They know that Japan is an earthquake nation. Some students experienced earthquakes for the first time after coming to Japan.

地層の構造、地球上の生物の存在を証明する各種化石など、多くの展示物の見学とその説明を楽しみました。

We enjoyed the watching and explanation of many exhibits, including the structure of the stratum and various fossils that prove the existence of life on earth in ancient times.

チュラの学生にとって、本学での研修がよい思い出になることを願っています。友人との友情も異国という環境下でさらに深まるでしょう。

I hope that Chula students have a good memory for this internship program in KAIT. Friendship will deepen even more in a foreign environment by helping each other.

　

AISTとJAXAは隣です。もっとも敷地が広いので、互いの正門から正門まではかなりの距離です。JAXAについたら、まずは記念撮影をして、そして見学の登録を行いました。

AIST and JAXA are neighbors. However, since the site is wide, it is a considerable distance from the gate to gate. As soon as we get to JAXA, we took commemorative photos and registered at the tour desk by showing our identification.

JAXAの食堂の一角での昼食です。ボリュームたっぷりで、私は満足しました。本来は減食しなければならないのですが・・・

We had lunch in the corner of the cafeteria of JAXA. I was satisfied with the volume. Actually, I have to eat less, but ...

まずは、JAXAの紹介ビデオを見ます。これで、JAXAがどのようなことを行っているのか、行ってきたのかが分かります。

In the beginning, we looked at the introductory video of JAXA. They understood what JAXA is doing and what it has been doing.

JAXAの敷地は広大なので、見学場所へはバスで向かいます。「きぼう」運用管制室、宇宙飛行士養成施設を見学しました。写真撮影は厳しく制限されています。

Because the site of JAXA is vast, we used the bus to go to the facilities. We visited the "Kibo" operation control room and the astronaut training facility. Photography is strictly restricted in those areas.

チュラの学生向けに特別の授業をしてもらいました。スペースデブリの話です。要するに宇宙のごみで、その衝突による衛星などの破壊が国際的な共有の問題になっています。解決のためには、国際協力が不可欠です。チュラの学生の視野も広がったと思います。

The engineer of JAXA gave us a special class for Chula students. It was a lecture about space debris. In short, that is rubbish of space, it is the old satellites and their fractures, etc. The collision of debris and operating satellites has become an international common problem. International cooperation is essential for the solution. I think the perspective of Chula students has also expanded.

最後はスペースドームで見学。私も説明を一部しました。宇宙ステーション補給機「こうのとり」の「こうのとり」の日本の神話？を説明しましたが、彼らは成人なので問題ないでしょう。展示されているものは、実際の試験モデルなので、ロケット以外は実物と同じ大きさです。

The last tour was at the Space Dome. I also gave some explanations. I told about Japanese myth of "Konotori", that was the origin of the name of Space Station Supply Vehicle "Konotori".  I believe that there is no problem since they are adults. The ones on display are the actual engineering test models, so they are the same size as the actual ones, except for the rocket.

JAXAを出たのは4:20ごろだったかな？　本学に着いたのは、7時を回っていました。金曜日の夕方ということもあり、一部区間でちょっとした渋滞がありました。今年の外部機関の見学ツアーは、これで終わりました。日本の幅広い科学技術を実感してくれれば幸いです。

It was about 4:20 when we left JAXA. It was past 7 o'clock when we arrived at KAIT. There was a slight traffic jam on some sections. Maybe it was due to Friday evening. This is the end of this year's tour of external organizations. It would be nice if Chula students could realize Japan's wide range of science and technology.
