We went to Samukawa
Shrine and Yotokuji Temple nearby KAIT in order to have sightseeing and experience
for Japanese culture with Chula. students.
Since it is quite difficult (impossible) for me to explain Japanese culture
including Buddhism, this article is mainly composed with photos. I don’t have enough knowledge to explain correctly
the difference between a shrine and a temple including their histories. Sorry for some errors in English as usual.
At
first, we went to Samukawa shrine by a microbus. Although my memory is not sure, it took about
30 minute to the shrine. The two persons in right side front are guides for this tour, M1 Kaneta and B4 Koakutsu.
Since
it was a week day, a precinct of the shine was not crowded. It may become very crowded in a New
Year's visit. Maybe they felt elegance of
Japanese shrine which is different from gorgeousness of the palace of Thailand.
The
photo is a little dark as light condition was not good, it’s pity. But it was lucky because it didn’t rain nevertheless
it was rainy by weather forecast.
What was Dr. Piarat praying for ?
The
photo with two persons is Ms. Pinyapach and Mr. Koakutsu who is 4th
year of KAIT. It is good atmosphere and
seems to be enjoying a tour.
They are selecting a lucky charm. There are many kinds of charms for each wish. It is surprising how close it is between KAIT and Samukawa shrine.
Next
plan was visit and experience to Japanese temple. We visited Yotokuji
Temple which is apart from KAIT about 4 km.
A priest is a friend of Prof. Matsumoto, who planned this tour.
We
received a lecture on “Zen” and a training of a Zen priest. The training is very severe.
We
had an experience of Zen meditation. It
is somewhat understandable by looking characters of Buddhist scriptures.
In
front of a Buddha statue
At
final, we took a memorial photo in front of the temple. The “Japanese Bekka” students kindly joined
the temple experience. The person pressing hands for praying at left
depths is Prof. Matsumoto. We all thanks
to a priest of Yotokuji Temple giving us a precious experience and Prof.
Matsumoto who made this tour plan.
